Emily Aust

Bio

My yoga and teaching practices are deeply influenced by and alongside my study of dance, and somatic modalities: Body Mind Centering, Alexander Technique, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and the Feldenkrais Method. In yoga and movement sessions we focus on awareness, the breath, alignment, sensation, and open hearted curiosity. I have a 19 year personal yoga practice, it is ever evolving and continues to be a place of nourishment, challenge, a place of introspection, stillness, expansion, transformation, action, and love.

-as practicing evolves so does it's depth-

In 2003 I began studying yoga asana with Sensei Tourda, a Zen Meditation, Aikido and Yoga practitioner. After many years of practicing yoga alongside somatic movement and dance modalities I completed my 200 Hour Vinyasa Yoga Training with Jano Galindo at Chula Vista Yoga Center in 2019. Additional study includes: Yoga Anatomy study with Amy Mathews and Leslie Kaminoff, The Science of The Private Lesson mini series with Francessca Cervero, Participation in The Clarity Collective Dharma practices with Sarah Clark Interconnected Yoga, Embodied anatomy and yoga practices with Lisa Clark through Body-Mind Centering & Yoga .

I hold an MFA in Dance Theater 2016 from the University of California San Diego

I have 10+ years of  experience teaching body based movement practices to a wide range of ages and abilities: privately, in community, university and public school settings.

Dancing brought me to Reiki. My hands bring years of inquiry & study in embodied anatomy; moving by way of deeply sensing through the systems of the body, listening from sensation, touch, and intuition.

After years of questioning and researching energy work, I received my Reiki certifications: Shoden level I & Okuden level II in 2021 through The Jikiden Reiki Institute of Kyoto Japan by Dr. Maria Dainlychev trained under sensei Tadao Yamaguchi. In 2022 I traveled to Kyoto Japan to train and deepen my Reiki practice. There I studied Shoden level I & Okuden level II directly with sensei Tadao Yamaguchi of The Jikiden Reiki Institute.

I am profoundly and humbly grateful to all of my teachers, mentors & collaborators known and unknown who have shared themselves, their knowledge, practices, and processes over the years.

They inspire me to do the same.

I am forever a student and am honored to be of service.
